We at [VOA] believe that:
- games are meant to be fun. When we're not having fun, something needs to change.
- you can enjoy gaming without cussing, putting people down, or riding on your own ego. In fact, the games are much more fun without these things.
- belonging to something still has merit. [VOA] is looked at by many as a well respected community.
- all members choose their own level of involvement above the minimum required commitment.
- our required commitment usually involves a mandatory practice or pub time commitment, or both. It's more fun when you actually play!
- while we can be a diverse group, we can still treat each other with respect.
- all members have a role to play in the big picture.
- we have a responsibility to hold each other accountable.
[VOA] Members will...
- understand the standards to be upheld by [VOA] and support these standards by first modeling them.
- keep donations up to date, understanding that [VOA] only runs through the investments of members
- acknowledge that by becoming [VOA], they are held to higher standardshead than the rest of our online community, and expected to maintain them.
- provide information to help webmasters, server admins, etc, in a timely manner.
- participate in all major decisions or gracefully accept a decision made in which they voluntarily took no part.
- Promote the [VOA] community, when possible but not overly, to visitors to our servers and website.
[VOA] Administrators will...
- be familiar with, understand, and adhere to the entire admin policy (below) at all times.
- set the example for all [VOA] members and public clients of the [VOA] servers by maintaining the accepted [VOA] standardshead.
- monitor the forums and volunteer to moderate whenever possible
- use whatever action necessary to maintain a fun server environment
- be accountable for any and all uses of admin powers at all times, even on anothers behalf
- Be responsible and carry out duties to which they commit. As an enlisted/officer member, you are relied on by the community and the guild to support them. With greater power, comes greater responsibility. Act accordingly.
[VOA] Officers will...
- watch the Officers Forum for major topics and respond to all emails requesting participation in a decision-making process.
- keep the rest of the Officers aware of any extended leaves during which they will not be available for discussion
- keep private discussion private
- remember that their ultimate responsibility is to serve and represent the community as a whole and not to pursue personal agendas.
- share knowledge of any serious issues within any part of [VOA] with the rest of the board
- be responsible with access to the game servers, using only when necessary or requested, and never sharing this information with anyone.
[VOA] Admin Mission Statement
The Use of Admin in [VOA] servers will be used to create a positive atmosphere, encourage clients to return to our servers, and, above all else, to preserve and protect the fair and competitive gameplay that is the true essence of whatever game they are administrating.
While many aspects of administration can create entertainment, and while [VOA] encourages everyone to have fun, it will never be used in such a way that interferes with the above commitment. With every admin command you give, you represent not just yourself, but our entire clan.
Our goal is to fill up any server we have with quality competition, teamplay, and companionship. “Playing” with admin when the server is full of regulars is ok if the clients don’t mind and whatever commands being used are consistent for everyone. You are asked to use your judgement. A visitor to the server might not see it as funny at all, and thus not return because of it. This goes against our mission.
General Admin Rules
- Consider yourself the host of the server, using your position to make the visit of all non-members as enjoyable as possible
- Use admin to keep the game moving, foster fair play and even teams, and to congratulate players on their accomplishments (such as kills, great teamplay or sacrifice, good strats, etc)
- The use of csay should be avoided. If using, try to use at roundstart.
- Sounds should not be played while a serious game is going on. Just because you are dead doesn’t mean someone else isn’t trying to listen carefully. Also, just because you’re not in a serious, competitive mood, doesn’t mean the others are not.
- The admin with the longest connection time will act as senior admin unless control is yielded or the admin is out-ranked.
- All [VOA] should be asked before making any server changes. This goes for votes too. If one clan member is having a stellar game, they probably don’t want to see a mapvote come up.
- Admins playing under alias should identify themselves to other admins in the server, OR avoid using admin commands under alias; admins under alias should avoid issuing admin commands, OR put on your name + tag after issuing the command.
Admin Restrictions
When acting as an admin for [VOA], you should NEVER:
- use admin to give yourself an unfair advantage.
- use admin to give another player an unfair advantage
- use harsh action without a warning, save for extreme circumstances
- knowingly use admin or rcon on any other [VOA] member
- disrupt gameplay with continual admin messages
Consequences For breaking Admin Policy
- warnings from fellow members
- official probationary period
- reduction in admin rights
- dismissal from the clan (without refund of dues)
This doctrine was adopted from the Gamers Coalition.
